Save-A-Life

Here are the facts:

  • During 2009, the American Red Cross estimated 400,00 People had heart attacks in the US
  • A deadly heart attack is caused by a prolonged period of a lack of blood supply that affects a large portion of the heart muscle causing death.
  • Research has shown that a persons chance of dying increases 30 to 60 percent if they do not receive proper medical care within 90 minutes or less in most cases.

The New Lenox Fire Protection District and the Foundation felt this was a significant issue.

As a result new equipment was identified that gives a much better understanding of what the heart is actually doing.

This new equipment is the 12 Lead Monitor.  This technologically advanced piece of equipment takes a 3-D picture of the heart.

This picture is then transmitted by cell phone to cardiac catheter labs for interpretation providing hospital doctors critical information before the patient arrives.

This equipment is costly but critical in saving lives.
